Well, as we all know, 2021 is coming to an end. From Spotify Wrapped to Timehop Memories, it’s impossible to not have nostalgia for the year that just flew past us all. With that said, we decided to put together our own little recap of what this year looked like for Preiss. Read all that we have accomplished this year below!
2021 proved to be challenging from the start. Our teams faced obstacles with COVID affecting our markets, and the demographics that these markets consist of. We had to find ways to adjust our leasing strategies, our marketing tactics, and overall, how we operated our properties. In a time of uncertainty, we bent ourselves backwards to fill our beds, and learned SO much along the way. We perfected the art of virtual tours, TikTok trends, and creating incentives to get prospects to sign from far away. We took our resident events and made them safe in a time where safety was at question, with online trivia, Instagram giveaways, and virtual hangouts. Not only did we prove to our residents that we were properties worth calling home, but to ourselves as well that we are capable of just about anything. I say we all need to give ourselves a pat on the back for that!
Not only did our hard work pay off at the sites, but we completed a record-breaking amount of transactions in the year 2021. We acquired seven properties, and recapped two of our current properties:
1. The 684-bed Collective at Auburn serving Auburn University
2. The 504-bed Row at the Stadium serving University of South Carolina
3. The 203-unit Edition on Oberlin serving the Village District of Raleigh
4. The 264-unit Greens at Tryon Apartments serving the Raleigh Area
5. The 847 -bed Collective at Lubbock serving Texas Tech University
6. The 684-bed Collective at Norman serving Oklahoma University
7. The 304-unit View at Legacy Oaks serving the Knightdale Area
8. Recapped on Signature Hartwell Village serving Clemson University
9. Recapped on Eastern on 10th serving East Carolina University
With this said…we are excited to announce that The Preiss Company has officially completed $1.04 BILLION in transactions this year, making it our biggest year yet! Welcome to all our new properties, and CONGRATS TO US!
Our teammates and coworkers also made this year absolutely unforgettable. We hired 238 of our employees in 2021, which is pretty sweet with the perspective that we grew our Preiss crew by that much. We also had 36 employees celebrate their five-year anniversaries, 11 employees celebrate their ten-year anniversaries, and 3 celebrate their fifteen-year anniversaries. We couldn’t be here today without any of our colleagues, but it’s important to take a moment to celebrate the new and the old.
We had yet ANOTHER successful turn this year, managing to move all our previous residents out and prepare our units for a new group! We bonded with our team members over inspecting, cleaning, and preparing apartments for our residents. We overcame yet another year of COVID protocols and plenty of questions regarding our procedures, and we came out stronger than ever. This is a feat to be recognized and applauded, so make sure to give yourselves a pat on the back for all the hard work you and your teams put in.
Finally, and most excitingly, we got to all see each other at our Leadership Conference in Austin. It was so great being able to hang out with our friends who we missed in the past couple of years, in a city that brought so much color and excitement, nonetheless. We learned, we danced, we ate (a lot), and we created memories that will last a lifetime. Nothing beats coming together with your colleagues to celebrate growth and the hard work that we put in every day.
All in all, while this year presented challenges, we took the lemons and made lemonade. 2021, you breezed past us all, and while we are so excited to see what 2022 has in store, we will never forget the lessons you have taught us that made us better as a company and as teammates. Cheers to 2021…and 2022, BRING IT ON!
