Raleigh, NC – September 19, 2006 – The Preiss Company (TPCO), the largest provider of off-campus student housing for North Carolina State University and Clemson University, was recently recognized as one of the Triangle’s top Women-Owned Businesses by Triangle Business Journal. This marks the company’s second consecutive year in The List, which ranked businesses based on number of Triangle employees.

“This accomplishment is truly a reflection of our employees who come to work everyday and give of themselves so selflessly,” says TPCO Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Donna Preiss. “Our company remains competitive and strong because of the loyalty, drive, and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction made by so many people. I’m grateful for their commitment and sincerely honored to be listed among so many other fine and respectable businesses.”

Preiss founded The Preiss Company in 1987 with herself as the sole employee. Today, the company employs over 60 people and has a total revenue (from sales, development, and property management) in excess of $10 Million annually. Recently, the company entered into its second strategic joint venture with Harrison Street Real Estate Capital (“HSRE”) to develop University Village, a 660-bed Class A student housing project at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The Venture reinforces TPCO’s and HSRE’s strategy of acquiring and developing student housing communities in targeted markets with the intention of acquiring and developing a portfolio worth over $100 million.
Preiss is actively involved in the Raleigh Board of Realtors, Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors (TCAR), Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women (TCREW), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), Triangle Apartment Association (TAA), Triangle Community Coalition Board of Directors, the Advisory Board for CREW, and the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Executive Women’s Task Force. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the SPCA. Preiss has also addressed the Commercial Real Estate Women in San Francisco and Atlanta, the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, and has led several panel discussions at the Fuqua School of Business.
