Adding value to the “off-campus living experience” is among new appointee’s goals

RALEIGH, NC – March 12, 2009 – The Preiss Company (“TPCO”), the largest provider of off-campus student housing at North Carolina State University, Clemson University, Auburn University in Alabama, and the University of Texas in Austin and the second largest provider at UNC Charlotte, is proud to announce the promotion of Lindsay Southern to Leasing and Marketing Manager of University Village at Clemson, a 1,552 bed property located about four miles from Clemson University.

In her new role, Southern will be responsible for implementing and managing the property’s Community Assistant program, planning and managing on-site special events, gathering market leasing data and analyzing current occupancy trends to create site strategies, and monitoring daily property and agent activity. Southern has been with TPCO since 2007 and previously served as a Leasing Agent for University Village at Clemson, where she worked with potential tenants and handled resident issues and concerns. Southern said that it was her experience working so closely with property residents that helped form her goals for her new role.

“By communicating directly with our tenants, I was able to get a realistic idea as to what is important to our residents versus having a preconceived notion based on industry findings,” explains Southern. “I know that the only way to increase occupancy and maintain a high renewal percentage is to put customer service first. Having more property events and taking every opportunity to ensure that current and future residents are enjoying their off-campus living experience will continue to set our property apart from the competition and ensure that we’re meeting our marketing goals.”

University Village at Clemson features 4 bedroom/4.5 bath and 4 bedroom/4 bath townhomes, as well as 4 bedroom/4 bath and 3 bedroom/3 bath garden apartments. Property amenities feature two swimming pools with sun deck, fitness center, computer lab, sand volleyball court, UV sports and entertainment zone, cabana with game room, tanning bed, and basketball court. TPCO opened Phase I of University Village at Clemson in 2002. The property is located in Central, South Carolina.

TPCO founder and CEO, Donna Preiss, says that in general, their properties always benefit when property managers are appointed from within. She explains that properties are as different as they area in which they’re located and the students which they house.

“I’m thrilled with Lindsay leading our Clemson property”, says Preiss. “Her knowledge of the property and its students will allow her to develop unique marketing strategies that will appeal to this student population. You only get this kind of expertise by working closely with the residents, as Lindsay has been able to do for the last year and a half. I look forward to continuing leading the Clemson housing market under Lindsay’s expert direction.”
